The items listed on this page reflect the offerings and ministry programs that happened before the pandemic. What the church will look and function like in the future is not yet determined. Please contact the church office, the pastors, or other ministry leaders to join us, and the Holy Spirit, in shaping and creating new ministries for the post-pandemic world.

First United Methodist Church recognizes how important the middle and high school years are - they are a time of challenge, change, and wonder as youth investigate who they are in the Lord. First UMC Youth Group helps teens on that journey of self-discovery and our youth are vibrant and vital members of the church community.

Typical Youth Group Stuff

We meet most Sunday evenings throughout the school year (6th - 12th grades). This is a time for fellowship and building strong Christian relationships while including some fun activities. The Tweens (4th & 5th graders) also have special evening programming from time to time on Sunday nights!

Our typical Sunday Night schedule:

  • 5:00 pm - 5:45 pm - Dinner
  • 5:45 pm - 7:00 pm - Programming

The youth also travel on two mission trips over the summer! One to the Philadelphia Project, grades 6th and up. They work in kids camps and on worksites. The Philadelphia Project trip is a stepping stone to our high school trip, Appalachian Service Project. This one is for students in grades 8th and up. This trip is only worksites. Students are welcome on either or both trips!

Youth Sunday School

Sunday school meets from 9:45 am - 10:45 am most Sundays.* This is a time for biblical teachings. As of a few years ago, we are only offering youth Sunday School classes for 6-8th grade. High school students are invited to participate in a worship service or join in on an adult Sunday School class or other small group opportunity, but there is also high school small group that meets monthly - contact Dave for more details!

*There is no Sunday School on the first Sunday of each month. This is "Service Sunday" when all of our youth are asked to attend and participate in a worship service.

For more information about youth programming, please contact Dave Breslin, Youth Ministry Coordinator.
